Our oganization was established as a no-kill shelter in May of 2000, devoted to helping the homeless and unwanted animals in this city find responsible, loving homes. Animal Friends, now Heart of Tx SPCA, is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit Texas corporation. We do not receive any city or county funding and survive solely on public donations and adoption fees. Heart of Tx SPCA is a K-9 Rescue with the same mission, same goals and expanded resources. Our programs will allow us to help even more homelss pets in and around Bexar county.
All interested parties are required to fill out an appliation for any of the animals at our facility. A visit and brief interview is then set up to make sure it is a good match. Our goal is to make sure that the pet is going to the right home for his/her personality, energy level, quirks and history. We also want to make sure the pet is the best fit for you. Some of our pets may require a home visit to be done.
