Poquoson Animal Welfare Sanctuary, Inc. is dedicated to the rescue and placement of abandoned, abused, and neglected cats in and around Poquoson, VA. Our vision for these animals is a safe place that will provide them with food, shelter, medical care, rehabilitation, adoption opportunities, and most importantly, love. Spay/neuter is a priority to control the overpopulation of these animals in our community. P.A.W.S is a non-profit organization 501(c)(3) that relies on public support in the form of volunteers and donations.
To adopt a P.A.W.S. kitty, please fill out the adoption application on our site. When the adoption coordinator contacts you, she can set up a foster kitty meet and greet where you and your family members can have plenty of time to visit. For further questions, please contact our adoption coordinator, Elaine, 757-618-0420. Our kitties have been spayed or neutered, FeLV/FIV tested, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and have flea control. They thrive in foster homes with much love and special attention to their health and socialization needs. Kittens can be met in foster homes and “pre-adopted” with an approved application and a paid adoption fee. Families can keep in touch with their pre-adopted kittens through the foster. Kittens can go to their furever homes after their spay/ neuter surgery. We are so happy you are considering adopting a rescue kitty from P.A.W.S.! We believe adoption of a pet is for life and want all family members in agreement with this lifetime decision. We enjoy keeping in touch with our furever families and sharing their pics!
