Protecting Animal Welfare Society - Jacksonville Pet Shelter
We are a state licensed, 501c3 no-kill animal rescue group. Our mission is to provide a safe location for animals in our area to rest, recooperate and find a new home. Further, we do our best to educate the public on the proper care of their own animals to reduce the number of animals needing to come in to the shelter system. Working with the young people and their families will create a different mindset, teaching families how to be responsible pet owners. We began in Jan 2011 and in our first 3 years of operation saved over 1065 animals. In 2014, our first full year in our new facility, we saved the lives of over 750 deserving animals. We depend on community support and your generous donations to help us operate. We are rapidly approaching 4000 animals who have been saved thanks to the efforts of our volunteers.

We adopted Lucy on 8/19/2020. Lucy is a 9 year old terrier mix who would have been put down had it not been for this facility and the wonderful, caring staff. They were very thorough in their investigation: checked all references and did a thorough interview to ensure Lucy was going to a good home. Once we met the staff, we understood the emotional connection to each of their four-legged clients and their determination to place all in the best home possible.
Although it's only been a couple of weeks, Lucy is comfortable and happy in her new permanent home.
